What Matters
“There are two types of photographers; those that think about art when they shoot and those that focus on life…I’m the latter. The art part just happens on its own when you get the life part right….” E.S.
-It’s all about what matters…
It’s about what matters today and what will still matter tomorrow. I guess you could say I’m sentimental guy…actually I’m very sentimental. I’m about substance and things that move us emotionally. I’m moved when I see a connection during a photo session and I know when to grab it. I don’t look for beauty in a bench and put people in it. I look for beauty in people and allow them to be themselves…where they feel comfortable. If you you understand what I mean by this, you’re my kind of client.
-How did it start for me?
My love for photography came at a young age. With memories of looking through my grandmother’s photography collections and enjoying the window into history they provided – some histories that were familiar, others that had to be recreated mentally based on the images I had the privilege of viewing.
This is the key reason I believe a photographer’s role is to tell the story of those being photographed, rather than create a new story while the photographs are taken. Simply put, photography should be more than a smile and an attractive background. It should be a bigger story than a child’s 3rd grade picture in front of a backdrop. It should capture a child’s laugh, a parent’s warm reassurance, a grandparent’s love, all in a specific place and moment of time that you will never forget.
I am here to help you tell your story and your family’s stories through imagery. Stories that I hope will live on for years…
There are few greater gifts than those that remind us of our children as they grow, people we love, or the experiences we have shared.
